Sweet Baby Bird Safe At Home

Today, I found a baby cardinal on the grass below its nest just 15 feet above him. I picked him up and kept him warm while Joe figured out a way to get him back in his home. We didn't have a ladder tall enough to reach it's nest, so Joe figured out a poor man's way of reaching the nest. That's right, leave it to Joe to back his truck up to put the ladder in the bed of the truck. It worked perfectly. Now the baby bird is back in its nest safe. Momma cardinal was in a panic not knowing where her baby was, and was very upset when Joe came face to face with her in her territory. She flew out of her nest and around by closely just chirping away...but, she has now calmed down and has found her way back to her nest. We didn't get a picture of Joe putting the bird back in its nest because it was raining and lightening and we had to do this quick. Just wanted to write this story to remember taking care of another momma's baby for a short time...so sweet.
