Birthday Bash Weekend (Part 1)!

During the weekend that we were in Amarillo, we not only celebrated Grey's 4th b-day, but also the twins, Dalton and Derek's 6th birthday! They had an awesome birthday!

Happy Birthday Boys!

This is the morning of the party! Grey and Joleigh were so excited to go to a birthday party! They each got to hold a gift for Dalton and Derek!

The party was at the Discovery Center in Amarillo! They have remodeled a few years back and boy was it awesome! Discovery toys of all different types - this place was definitely not only for small kids, but big kids too! (Joseph) : ) This pic was taken the moment we got there! The kids (and Joe) were immediately immersed and it was difficult to bring them (Joe too!) into the party room to start the b-day party!

Thought this was cute! I believe this is Derek! Both boys were excited to share their party with us Houston cousins!

"It's party time!!!!! We all need to go to the party room! Is everyone here? Where's Joe? Oh, he's still playing in the discovery room!"

Cute cakes and cupcakes! The theme was critters (bugs and such) and volcanoes!

Cute table! The center did EVERYTHING including set-up, the cakes, the party favors (cute bug catcher toys) and the activities!

Here's one activity - a volcanic eruption! Ya know, to kids, this activity is new, fun and exciting! But, for adults, it never gets old! We all enjoyed watching the baking soda and vinegar, no, I mean the very hot lava, erupt! Also, notice where Joe is? Do you see any other adults in the picture! : )

Trey, the twins older brother got to have a shot at making the volcano erupt!

The second activity was making ice cream! Oh no, not just normal ice cream but liquid nitrogen ice cream! So cool, and ya know, that was the best ice cream I've tasted in a long time!

Then it was time to open gifts! Dalton and Derek both had a blast!

Brittney and Joleigh, the only girl cousins in the fam!

After watching a light show, we came back into the discovery room to play! And boy, did we all play! Air flowed through this cone to levitate a beach ball, but the kids found another way to play!

Don't blow away!

This large disc would spin and you could drop a variety of shapes of metal onto the disc and watch how they would spin too!

This was a cool maze that all generations got involved with! The wall was made of metal and the white pipes had magnets on the back. You could create your own maze by moving the pipes around. Then you could drop a ball at the beginning of your maze and watch it go!

I've always thought this was a cool thing to play with! I was surprised, but Grey wasn't scared of it!
Another cool toy!

This was fun! A person would stand in the middle and then a helper would pull the rope to raise a ring that was sitting in soapy water making a huge bubble around the person in the middle! So cool!

Hand -made pin ball machine! You could move the pieces on top to make the ball hit differently each time!

Brittney and Blake, the oldest cousins making towers with huge foam toys!

More bubble toys! Do you see Grey's bubble? And, do you see Joleigh? Her only interest for quite some time was getting her hands soapy, rinsing them off and using the blow dryer machine (just the perfect height for little ones) to dry her hands! At one point, I noticed a line forming behind her as she was drying her hands - she didn't want to leave! : )

The other side of the center was just as fun but focused more on the human body. This machine measured your exact height. Joe tried to trick the machine and put a balloon over his head. He was measured at exactly 8'. Then the machine said, "Are you tricking me?" Whoa.

The kids measured their height too!

We had so much fun, I know we will visit again soon! Joe mentioned flying Grey up to Amarillo, spend the day at the Discovery Center and then fly home! I think he should!
You had a great 6th birthday Derek and Dalton! I am so happy we could share it with you!
