This past Saturday, we drove out in the country towards Brenham to look for bluebonnets and take pictures. This year, unfortunately, we did not see fields of wildflowers because of the lack of rain and cold winter. Hopefully, if we get rain in the next couple of weeks, more will bloom!

We ended up at a small town called Independence. There, we spotted a park with beautiful bluebonnets. They were very small, but still breathtaking! Joe took this picture using the timer on our camera - we were shocked and pleased at how well it turned out! Everyone is smiling!

On our way! Daddy is driving!

The kids and Bailey are excited about the trip!
Joleigh, of course, had to bring her heels!

At the park...an old tire swing...

It still works! : )

The kids loved it!

Love
Joleigh's face in this pic...

In the sepia pic above with
Joleigh, you will see a shack with an old gas pump in the background. This is where the next few pictures were taken.

I loved this old fence...

This place must have been an old gas station at one time...this old pump is still standing.

Grey loved playing with it...

Wow! Wish our gas prices were this low now!!

Oh, my husband is so handsome! Love this pic!

In a field just in front of the tire swing...

Love this pic too! Love Grey's face! This was taken in front of the shack...

With color...

Grey took this picture - thought he did a pretty good job!

He took this one too! Next time we will try to get Bailey's head in the pic! ; )

Mommy with kids...

Grey wasn't too interested in staying around, so we decided to have a girl picture!

This field was opposite the park - beautiful!

The kids loved this fence - it was perfect for climbing.

And relaxing (look at Grey's arms)

And this is the field...I would love to have this tree in my yard!

Same field, just
looking a little to the left...

Again, Joe used the timer - thought this pic turned out good too! We need a higher tripod though! : )

And Grey was very proud of himself - he wanted to show us he could balance on the rock!

On our way back from Independence, we decided to go through downtown
Brenham...we were just in time to watch a very loud train rumble through town! The kids loved it.
And, Joe spotted a fun place to enjoy a special treat! Since this is Blue Bell country...

...we had to stop for
ice cream! Yum!

Grey and
Joleigh shared their
ice cream with
each other! Grey wanted green (mint) and Joleigh wanted pink (strawberry)!

Daddy enjoyed his buttermilk pie with blackberry cobbler
ice cream!

On the way home, I drove...

Grey talked and talked and talked...

Bailey just loved being with family...

And
Joleigh, well....she was out!

This is my favorite picture taken that day. I am calling it, "Sharing Secrets" - I pray that Grey and
Joleigh will stay this close throughout their lives!
We had a fabulous day! We love being out in the country enjoying a more slow-paced life for the day!
